Dan Burdick has been a contractor in Port Angeles since 2005. His father, John, started the business in Clallam Bay in 1987. Dan learned carpentry from him, and from other carpenters, woodworkers, and contractors starting when Dan was 16 years old. He also spent many hours in the high-school shop and at home in the basement acquiring woodworking skills. After six months at the Wooden Boat School in Port Townsend in 1995, Dan knew he wanted to be a full-time woodworker, and he has been covered in sawdust ever since!
Dan enjoys working with clients on a wide range of projects, finding solutions that fit within tight budgets. Dan keeps informed on new techniques and frequently researches new products.
Dan’s goal is for the projects he undertakes to look good and last a very long time. He seeks high-quality with every project- from the repair of a bathroom floor to the remodel of a new porch. If and when he has grandchildren, he would like to be able to drive them around town and show them some of the work he did decades before and to see them still looking good. For a similar reason, it’s important to Dan to build with environmentally sustainable products and techniques. Dan has recently taken a course from Western Washington University on Energy Efficient and Carbon Neutral Design, which he hopes to put into practice for clients.
